Springfield Montessori School

SPECIAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Family Meet & Greet

At Springfield, we believe strong school-to-home connections build a thriving community. Our Family Meet & Greet offers families the chance to get to know one another, meet our dedicated teachers, and explore the learning environment before the school year begins. It’s a gentle, welcoming start to your child’s Montessori journey. We can’t wait to meet you!

Back to School Night

Back to School Night is an opportunity for parents to experience the magic of the Montessori classroom through their child’s eyes. Teachers will guide you through the curriculum, share goals for the year ahead, and provide insights into how we support each child’s development. We look forward to partnering with you for a successful year.

Harvest Festival

Mission

Our Harvest Festival is a joyful celebration of the season, filled with sensory exploration, nature-based crafts, and community connection. Children enjoy hands-on activities that honor the rhythms of the earth and the beauty of autumn. Families are encouraged to join in the fun on October 24th 2025 and help us welcome fall with warmth and gratitude.

Diwali Celebration

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is celebrated at Springfield as a vibrant cultural event that embraces joy, family, and new beginnings. This year we will celebrate on October 31st 2025. Children learn about the traditions and symbols of Diwali through storytelling, crafts, and music. We invite families to contribute stories, food, or cultural items to help us honor this beautiful celebration of light.

Winter Sing-a-long

Our Winter Sing-a-long is a heartwarming tradition that brings the Springfield community together in song and spirit. Children perform seasonal melodies they’ve practiced with care, celebrating the joy and togetherness of the season. Families are invited to attend and join in the cheer as we wrap up the calendar year with warmth and harmony.

100th Day of School

The 100th Day of School is a playful milestone that celebrates growth, perseverance, and curiosity. Classrooms mark the day with creative counting activities, themed projects, and joyful reflection on all the learning that’s taken place. It’s a fun and meaningful way to recognize progress and community.

Lunar New Year

Mission

Springfield honors the Lunar New Year by exploring traditions from cultures around the world. Children learn about the zodiac, enjoy themed crafts, and may even participate in a dragon dance or try special snacks. Families are invited to contribute stories, clothing, or artifacts that enrich this cultural experience celebrated this on February 27th 2026.

Teacher In Service Day

On this day, March 6th 2026 our classrooms are closed to children while our educators engage in professional development and collaboration. Teacher In-Service Days allow our team to grow in their practice, ensuring we continue to offer the highest quality Montessori education. We appreciate your support as we invest in lifelong learning—for students and teachers alike.

Earth
Day

Earth Day at Springfield is a celebration of stewardship, wonder, and responsibility. Children participate in nature walks, gardening, and eco-friendly crafts, learning to care for our planet through hands-on experiences. Together, we honor our connection to the Earth and our role in protecting it for generations to come.

Cultural
Faire

Our annual Cultural Faire is a vibrant celebration of the rich diversity within our community. Families are invited to share their heritage through food, dress, music, and storytelling. Children gain a deeper appreciation for the world around them, fostering empathy, curiosity, and global awareness. We invite you to participate on May 15th 2026 and help bring our community’s beautiful mosaic to life.

Kindergarten Graduation

Mission

Kindergarten Graduation is a meaningful milestone as our oldest students prepare to take their next big step. During the ceremony, children share what they’ve learned and receive recognition for their growth and accomplishments. Families are warmly invited to attend this heartfelt celebration of resilience, joy, and readiness for the journey ahead.

Birthday Celebrations

At Springfield, birthdays are celebrated in a thoughtful Montessori tradition that honors your child's unique journey. During circle time, the "Birthday Mat" is placed in the center, featuring a symbolic sun and twelve months surrounding it. The child walks around the sun, stopping at each birth month as the teacher shares stories and photos from that year. Families are warmly invited to join the celebration and bring a healthy snack to share.
